| The Hongniu Copper Mine is located in Geza Township, Shangri La City, Yunnan Province. It belongs to the Dege Xiangcheng copper lead zinc silver polymetallic mineralization belt and is the largest skarn type copper polymetallic deposit in the Late Yanshan mineralization system within the Geza Island Arc Belt. This article studies the exploration ideas, methods, and effects of mineral exploration breakthroughs in mining areas. The exploration breakthroughs in mining areas are divided into three stages: zero breakthrough from scratch, quantitative breakthrough from few to many, and new breakthrough from small to large. The exploration ideas of exploration selection areas, core area exploration, and deep edge exploration are summarized from four aspects: geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and mineral resources. The three sets of exploration technology methods for exploration selection areas, mid shallow exploration, and deep exploration are integrated, and the exploration indicators of mining areas are summarized from three aspects: geology, geophysics, and geochemistry. This provides exploration ideas, exploration technology methods, and exploration indicators demonstration for finding similar mineral deposits in the new round of exploration strategy in the Geza Island Arc Belt.
